The services we supply are approximatley 40% government funded. Without public support, fundraising events and grants we cannot continue to help women and children affected by violence change their lives.

WOMENS REFUGE AWARENESS MONTH
INCORPORATING OUR ANNUAL APPEAL 5TH AND 6TH JULY
 
On Friday the 5th July and Saturday the 6th July Taranaki Women’s Refuge will be holding its Annual Street Appeal for 2013.
Collectors will be at various locations around New Plymouth, Waitara, Stratford and Hawera.
 
Domestic violence is the greatest social problem facing New Zealand today with 1 in 3 women experiencing psychological or physical abuse from their partners. Each year, up to half of all murders is family violence related.  
Women’s Refuge is New Zealand’s most significant family violence organization with a 39 year history of providing comprehensive services for women and children.
Services include:
·        24 hour crisis line
·        Education
·        Safe accommodation
·        Awareness Raising
·        Social Work Services
 
We are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to give an hour or two on either of these days (between 9am and 3pm) to assist with our collection. All money collected is used locally, so please contact Vicky at Taranaki Women’s Refuge (06) 7695553 or email fundraiser@taranakiwomensrefuge.co.nz to let her know you are keen to assist for this essential service.
 

 Deck the Rooms - 30 November 2013

This year we have some amazing properties for you to view.  From some of New Plymouth's oldest and grandest homes through to mid-century and contemporary grandeur.  There is something for everyone.  If you are interested in interior design and floristry or just want to sneak a peek you are guaranteed to find inspiration from these homes.  Grab your mum, your sister, your daughter or a group of friends and make a day of it.  Tickets are $25 each and will be on sale from Benny's Books, our office and participating florists and designers nearer to the time.
